hyena help?

yeh actually one of my first times I drew a hyena... please I need your opinion on this, and maybe a redline? btw. I left the anatomy structure thingy`s in it.. (if they`re wrong, please correct it, I know nothing about hyena anatomy) btw. I did have a reference for the headshot one.

(sorry for the huge-ness, but with a small image, you can`t see the details)

the legs should probably be shorter and thicker, hyenas are kind of bulky

Also go for a squarer muzzle and more rounded ears, so the face doesn't look so doglike, and a smaller tail.

I don't have experience with drawing hyenas myself, so I can't help you with a redline :/

A lot of your hyena pictures seem more dog-like than hyena-like. I agree with what Griffin says about the rounder ears and a flatter muzzle. I've only redlined one of your pictures to give you the general idea.

A comment on your full-body picture. Hyenas aren't as tall and skinny as you have in your picture. The back legs are especially long. Try moving the belly down a little and shortening the back legs. Also try widening the shoulder.

Just keep looking up more pictures of hyenas, and you'll get it.

This better? I know this sucks too, but I think it`s better than the last one. The neck seems a bit to short to me though :/
I drew this at school without ref.

It's definitely much better. It looks a lot like a hyena now.

Some things that still could be fixed:

-> The neck length is fine. I think the reason it looks a little short is because you made it too floofy. It'll look good if you just make it a little skinnier.
-> Your hyena is kinda lacking a shoulder blade.
-> There joint between the forearm and the toes is higher on a hyena than it is on a feline.
-> The ankle joint is a bit lower than you have it.
-> A hyena's back doesn't normally slope as much as they do in The Lion King. There is a gentle slope, but it's not as dramatically noticeable.

You're getting there!
